Cristina Bernardo

Executive and Parent Coach, Head of Partnerships

The tenth child of Cuban American immigrants, Cristina Bernardo Kullberg is very passionate about the power of education, social entrepreneurship, and parents to change systems and communities. She Co-Founded Avocado Health to provide the parenting support she felt she so little received to parents across the globe. When one of her daughter's got chronically sick, she always felt like she never had any answers to the millions of questions she had about her or her other children. With Avocado Health she hopes she can help parents feel supported, calm, and connected to their children.

Cristina also currently serves as the Co-Founder of Open Dreams, a nonprofit she started alongside LSE alumni Blaise Buma. Since 2015, Open Dreams has helped over 300 high achieving, low income students from Cameroon find and secure scholarships to leading universities all over the world including Oxford, McGill, Harvard, and more. They also offer services for maternal and infant health and Avocado Health was designed with their needs in mind. Many of our first Avocado clients leverage our service via Whatsapp from Cameroon.

Previously, Cristina served as the Executive Director of Emzingo|U, an award winning leadership development and social impact B-Corp that runs leadership programs in Peru, Brazil, South Africa, Spain, and the US. In 2016, Cristina had the great honor to serve President Obama at the USDA, focusing on community and economic development in the most marginalized rural and tribal communities in the US.

Cristina is a certified Integral Coach from New Ventures West in San Francisco. She specializes in working with mothers and women leaders and entrepreneurs through She Shines Worldwide. She leverages her coaching experience to help make Avocado Health both a necessary tool for all the questions of parenting and also a coaching support tool to help parents find more peace, rest, and calm in their parenting journeys.

She received her MSc in the Political Economy of Late Development from the London School of Economics and a BA in International Politics and Business at UNC Chapel Hill. She lives in sunny San Diego where she likes to rock-climb, roller-skate, and attempt to surf with her children.
